![]() Contact: 352.861.3174 Home Camps Getting There is Easy ! It is amazing that an area so remote can be so easy to travel to. We are probably the easiest REMOTE hunt in NA to reach ! We are located 700 air miles North of the US/Canadian border, one of the most remote fly-in areas in North America, only 200 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Our pickup point is Thompson, Manitoba. Thompson is a bustling mining town of 15,000 people which also acts as a central hub to areas further North. It is easily accessed by road or air. By road, Highway 6 travels North from Winnipeg to Thompson and is completely paved. Estimated travel time is 6 1/2 hours. Thompson has several grocery stores, a WalMart, an excellent liquor store, and hardware stores. Dry ice is available. By air, Thompson receives regularly scheduled flights 4-8 times daily on weekdays. Schedules are more limited on weekends. Regional carriers are Calm Air and Perimeter Air. Thompson is a 1 ½ hour flight from Winnipeg. Winnipeg is serviced by air from the States with several flights daily. Carriers are Delta, United, Air Canada, and Westjet. Please note most carriers are not allowing racks to be transported as cargo or luggage. Our taxidermist can arrange expediting if needed. Another suggestion for those flying is to fly to Winnipeg and then rent a vehicle for the week for travel to Thompson. This helps defray some of the shipping costs of meat and racks. There is no expediting service in Thompson although cab service is readily available. There are excellent options for parking your vehicle in Thompson. No permits other than your license is required for bringing back meat and capes to the US EXCEPT for wolves. Those must be left with our taxidermist and permits can take up to 8 weeks to obtain. Overnights are required on the Northbound portion of travel and sometimes the Southbound. We recommend the Fourpoints Sheraton in Winnipeg (204-775-5222), in Thompson, the Mystery Lake Motel or Country Inn. Once in Thompson, you will travel by our private charter to our main lodge and then move by floatplane to your camp. We use several local carriers, including Missinippi Air and Keewatin Air. For assistance on air and hotel, we recommend our official travel agent, TravelEx (1-800-882-0499). Private aircraft are welcome. Our VFR strip measures 5400’ by 125’. It has a clay, sand, and gravel top. We strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance as all payments are non-refundable. Guests are responsible for meeting our charter and responsible for all travel costs if they miss the flight. |
